School-Based Social Work Services
YES Community Counseling Center provides Social Work services to elementary and middle schools in the Massapequa, Farmingdale, and Plainedge school districts. Our staff and interns are engaged in various facets of the students' experience. The following are just some of the many things we are able to do through the dedication of our Social Work staff:
We facilitate a variety of programs on topics relevant to the districts, such as Drugs and Alcohol Prevention, Bullying and Violence Prevention, Child Abuse Prevention, etc.
We conduct individual counseling for students as well as provide group counseling and support for youth struggling with common issues, such as divorce, poor social skills, etc.
We coordinate and maintain the school's chapter of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). We organize the Summer Parks Project in which Marjorie Post Park is opened after hours to provide leisure time and safe activities for youth several nights a week during the summer.
Through support of Massapequa Takes Action, we staff the Massapequa School District's Summer Recreation Program providing social work services including conflict resolution, socialization skills, and counseling.
